Day 4...Grandin Building

We toured the Grandin Building in the morning. This is where the Book of Mormon was first printed. Joseph Smith had 5,000 copies printed and it cost $3,000. Martin Harris mortgaged his farm to help pay that cost. They then sold the books for $1.25 (nearly 2 days worth of wages back then). This is the original painting depicting Moroni's visit to Joseph Smith.

Can you imagine how long it took to type set the entire Book of Mormon back then? Those letters are tiny!

This is one of the first copies of the Book of Mormon
The women were the ones who sewed all of the signatures together to create the book
Sister Hill and I. She had only been out 3 weeks. She was such a great missionary. She is one of those people that you just feel instantly connected to.
