My Week In Review

I am truly amazed at how quickly time flies. Are you too?

Here's the top 5 for the week:

1. My 4 year old is so dang cute! He wants to "snuggle" with me every night. Last night while we were laying in bed my husband gave me my nightly foot (therapy) rub. It hurts sometimes. My son just kept saying, "You're doing so great Mom. Squeeze my hand if it hurts." He also gave me his favorite stuffed animal to squeeze if the pain was bad. After my foot rub my 4 year old gave his stuffed animal a foot rub. He's so cute!

2. My 11 year old performed at the annual Festival of Trees. She's had 2 performances this week and it's so fun for me to watch her sing and dance.

3. I got flowers from my hubby.

4. I'm almost done with my Christmas shopping. My husband and I actually went together to shop for the kids. Can I just say how much I love Ross? That store is frustrating at times because you have to dig for cute things but it really is worth it. We ended up getting the kids and my husband a ton of stuff and only spend about $200. Cha Ching!! Oh and can I just tell you how much I love buying a $48 brand name hoodie for $9.99?

5. My 4 year old is on an antibiotic because he has colitis. We had filled the original Rx and were told to mix it with chocolate pudding because it masks the VERY bitter taste. Well before I gave it to him I tasted it and it was terrible. I knew there was no way that he would take it. I called the doctor back and she called a special pharmacy. This pharmacy made a special "compound" and it's awesome! I was so happy. He doesn't mind taking this medicine at all. It's nice not to have to fight with him to take it. Especially because he's on it for 3 weeks!

Bottom 5

1. Car trouble. My husband is having problems with his power steering and I'm having problems with my ABS system. Oh the joys.

2. My daughter was horribly sick this week.

3. When we set up our tree this year we noticed that some of the lights were out. Later that day they came on though. Well, today we had a string totally die out. This will be the tree's last year with us. :( But we'll buy a new one when they go on clearance.

4. We had a big snow storm last Sunday. Monday morning my husband got stuck at the bottom of our driveway. Our neighbor had to hook up a tow cable and pull him out. He then barely made it out of our driveway. Then that afternoon my daughter called because she was sick. I got stuck at the end of the driveway on my way to get her. I didn't have anyone to help me out. I grabbed the shovel, dug around my tires and then put handfuls of salt behind each tire. I got out!

5. Ever have those days when nothing seems to go right? I had one of those days on Wed. My daughter was so sick. My son was at pre-school. My other son was at school. I was burning out with everything that I had to do that day. I had managed to finish cleaning my kitchen when I noticed that I had to leave to get my son from pre-school. My 10 year old called right as I was about to leave and told me that he had ripped his pants and that he needed me to bring him some new ones. But did he have any clean pants? NOPE. I grabbed a dirty pair from his room, ran to the school to drop them off. I thought I would be late to pick up my 4 year old but then I told myself that he gets out at 12:30. I was relieved. But then on the way to pre-school I realized that it gets out at 12:15. CRAP! It was already 12:25. I was the last mom to pick up their kid that day. And I was really happy when bed time rolled around that day.

Next week is looking like it's going to be INSANE. It's Nutcracker week. I have two kids in the performance this year. We have dress rehearsal from 4-8 pm Monday and Tuesday then 3 hour performances Wed and Thurs. Oh did I also mention that I have a huge church activity on Tuesday night too? That's not all! Pray that I survive the up-coming week!

Have a good one!

Five on Friday - A Few Hours Late

This week has been quite an emotional week. I need to really post about what's going on. I'll do that this afternoon. But for now here's how the week went.

Top 5

1. I cleaned out and organized my craft room. It had literally become a dumping ground for odds and ends. You couldn't even see the floor. It was terrible. I purged so much stuff!

2. I traded a TON of my scrapbook stuff for a guitar. Thanks Audrey! I am so excited. Learning to play the guitar is something I've wanted to do for a very long time. And hopefully soon I'll be able to cross it off my Bucket List.

3. I hosted our book club at my house. We read "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet." It's an amazing read. I HIGHLY recommend this book. My mother in law chose it for her book club too! Seriously...read this book.

4. My daughter wrote both my husband and I love notes and left them on our pillows last night.

5. I decided that I need to "fox" myself out. I went shopping! I found some cute jeans, shirts, scarves, sunglasses and shoes. I'm tired of wearing "boring" clothes. And thanks to Allison at PetitElephant.com I did it. I love her!  She's seriously changed my little life.  She's given me the courage to "dress up" despite what size I am.  Allison...you are my hero.

Ok...here's the bottom 5 for the week

1. 2 of my kids are "sick." I took them to the pediatric GI doctor this week. My daughter's issues are totally treatable. She's got some thyroid issues. That actually explains a ton! My 4 year old son on the other hand has major issues. He was born with Hirschsprung's Disease. I actually have two children with it. But my 4 year old is not doing so well. He had to have a barium enema yesterday and it showed that his colon is so stretched out. He also has colitis. So what does that mean? He's on antibiotics for the colitis. That should help him feel better. But he will probably need more surgery soon to take out more of his colon. I'm not sure if he will need a colostomy again though. It wouldn't be the end of the world if that happened. But those surgeries are MAJOR. And he had a long recovery after his last 3 major surgeries.

2. I forgot my 10 year old's doctor's appointment AGAIN. That's $30 bucks down the drain. I set my alarm on my phone now with TWO reminders.

3. I had to get shots in both of my feet. They are still very sore and swollen. You'd think that 9 weeks post op they'd be fine. But they aren't. That's ok. Everyday is a little bit better. But those shots HURT.

4. Our yard is a mess. I need to rake it up. Gotta love that about fall, right? NO! But I really do love the end results.

5. I realized that Thanksgiving is only two weeks away. What the heck? Seriously? Where has the time gone? I also realized that it's only two weeks before we put up our Christmas decorations. I'm not ready for that. I'll try not to stress too much this year about Christmas and money! Ready or not, here it comes. Uggg...just typing this makes me stress.

Five on Friday

I swear the weeks are passing by faster and faster. So without further ado here are the top and bottom 5 for the week.

Top 5

1. We are going to see the witches today at Gardner Village. I absolutely LOVE that place. I'll post pictures as soon as we get back.

2. I got to see some of my very favorite people in the world on Sunday night. We had a performance in West Valley City. I seriously LOVE singing with these people.

3. I got the official CDs of Sabbath Morning. It was amazing to see my little ole name on the credits. It was a life-long dream come true and I'm still pinching myself. Seriously one of the top highlights for the week.

4. It snowed here this week. I love the snow. I loved driving the kids to school that morning and seeing everything covered in white. There's just something so peaceful about that. It really brings happiness to my soul.

5. My brother in law and my nephew came down to Utah for a doctor's appt. They spent the night at our house. I love them both so much. It was so nice to visit with Nick and play with Ellis. He was so excited to come to aunt Tami's house. Ahh...cute little guy!

Bottom 5

1. I feel a cold coming on. I HATE being sick. Who doesn't, right?

2. I was an emotional wreck this week. I think we all have days and weeks like this. I'm burned out and need to re-charge my batteries.

3. I went to make waffles this morning and wondered what the burning smell was. I lifted the lid to the waffle maker and discovered that my daughter had left crud on it and it was totally burning. There's so much on there I think I just need to throw it away and buy a new one. So then I decided to make pancakes with the batter and I burned those. All while drinking my spinach smoothie. What a way to start out the day!

4. I still haven't heard from the insurance company from the fender bender we had 3 weeks ago. Seriously? What kind of crappy insurance does this guy have?

5. I hate Halloween drama. As my kids get older, it gets harder to find a costume that they really want (that doesn't cost an arm and a leg). We spent WAY too much money on costumes this year and all I heard was complaints. I ended up taking away trick or treating at my husband's work today because of the fighting and the drama.

Whoa...what a week. How was your week?

Six on Saturday? You Betcha!

So I keep spacing the whole Five on Friday thing. I need to catch up so today you get an extra bonus!

Top 6 for the week:

1. Last Saturday I went to a Woman's Conference. I went with one of the cutest friends I have, Audrey. I learned so much about myself. I learned that I am horrible to myself. Why is that on my top list for the week then? Because I changed my thinking this week and it made a HUGE difference in the way I feel about things. One of the biggest things I came away with was that we should feel peace at all times and if we don't then there's been a breach. I "heart" that.

2. Guess what I'm NOT wearing? Here's your clues...they are UGLY, uncomfortable, have Velcro, are blue and are so NOT a fashion statement. That's right folks, I stopped wearing my post op surgery shoes. The doctor said that I could try regular shoes for 15 minutes a day. Yea right, I was determined to stop wearing those butt ugly shoes and move into less ugly shoes. I have to wear these hard, plastic orthotics so my shoes are severely limited but that's ok. I just need to go shopping now for something other than heels. I'm now wearing the less ugly shoes all the time!

3. Remember the fire that we had at our house a couple of weeks ago? Well we had taken our son to Desert Star Theater for his birthday and had to leave early because of it. Well they called me and offered us new tickets. So I took him and a friend to see it again. We made it through the whole thing this time! They play was really funny!

4. It's stormy today. I LOVE rainy days. It reminds me of California. I always loved the storms we had that lasted days and days.

5. We had book club this week. We had read "Eat, Pray, Love." I absolutely loved the book. My friend Sam hosted it and she arranged for us to go to a meditation class after dinner. The teacher was amazing and I had a great time. I learned so much and I really want to implement meditation more into my life.

6. Girls' Night Out was last night. We met at a friend's house to watch scary movies. We had several options and so it was left to me to pick. I picked "Dial M for Murder." I got it confused with "Sorry, Wrong Number." The movie was OK. It definitely wasn't scary. But we did have a good time laughing at the movie.

7. I'm sorry but this week had more highs than lows so I have to add another one. I'll blog more about this later and I'll post pictures. The people living in our house previously left behind a sofa table. It's been sitting in our garage for the last year. I've had every intention of re-finishing it but hadn't until yesterday! It's so beautiful now. And it adds some elegance to our family room.

Bottom for the week:

1. I totally spaced my son's doctor's appt and it cost me $30. DANG IT. I was NOT happy with myself.

2. We got into a fender bender. I went to go pick up my Bountiful Basket last week and some guy wasn't paying attention and totally backed into me. I'm still waiting for his insurance to contact me. Want to know something crazy? The dent totally worked it's way out of the bumper.

3. I had to re-wash a load of clothes THREE times. I kept forgetting then re-starting it. I finally started it for the FINAL time this morning. I asked my husband to switch the laundry while I was gone today because I knew I'd forget AGAIN. He did.

4. My poor house has been neglected for the last 5 1/2 weeks while I've been recovering from my surgery. My feet still hurt by the end of the day if I do too much. So I can't do as much as I'd like. But it will get there. I just need to have some more patience.

5. My husband was ornery this week! Oh boy was he ever! It's been a VERY tough week at work and I think the stress finally got to him. He's happy today though! Yay!

6. I posted this post on the wrong blog. Oops!

Overall it was a pretty darn good week.
