History was made

I watched the Today Show this morning to see coverage of the election yesterday. They played a clip from Martin Luther King's famous speech. It gave me goose bumps. I know there are some who NEVER thought a black man would be president one day. This just goes to show how great our country is. The sky is the limit. I hope by having Obama in office people will realize that nothing is impossible. I think we might even have a woman as a president one day. I've talked openly to my kids about who I voted for any why I think it's amazing that we have our first black president. I LOVE the fact that Obama has been open and honest about his past. We've all got one. And we need to remember that we ALL have dirt that can be dug up on us. I'm proud that I voted yesterday. I'm sorry to those that are mourning today because of who won the election. Our country needed a change and I know that they would've gotten it with John McCain in office but with Palin as his running mate he never had a chance. Yesterday will go down in the history books as one of the most important days in history. I am happy my kids saw me vote. Steve and I were talking and growing up we never knew who our parents voted for. I don't know why that was. I won't keep it a seceret. I voted for Obama. That's what makes our country great...the freedom of choice. I just hope that we can move forward and stop the hate and prejudice. Let's accept the fact that we will have a new president on January 20, 2009 and make the most of it. There's no need to dislike those who did vote for Obama.

It's great that the people voted for the 1st black president. It shows how much this country has grown, I just hope people didn't vote for him just because of his color but for his politics and beliefs for this country. Jared and I are also very open about politics with our children and the importance of voting. We also took the kids to vote, they mostly enjoyed the stickers and the free doughnuts. Bella was proudly displaying her sticker all thru the mall making sure everyone saw it. She's funny that way :)

I was so thrilled! I too had goose bumps that night when Barack made his speech. I am so grateful for the hope that he has brought to the people of America. I was especially impressed when he said that the victory was not his but ours because we stood up and made our voices heard. I see great things coming from this man. I was so impressed that he called on American's to close the divide between democrat and republican states and become once again The United States of America. Oh and I thought it was especially cool that he mentioned the puppy that his girls had earned! Glad to see another Obama supporter among my friends, I was feeling like the only one! Miss you! Aubs
