Eternal Bliss

I was sitting in the Walgreen's parking lot on Friday night waiting for Carter's Rx to be ready. I had my Book of Mormon in my purse and pulled it out. I started reading in Alma. I haven't had too many experiences where certain scriptures "jump" out at me like the one I read that night in the car. Many of you know times are tough for our little family right now. Steve's out of work and we are dealing with Carter's Hirschsprung's Disease. I've been relying on the Savior and the Atonement through all of this. Without that I'd be a wreck right now. So the scriptures and scripture study have become VERY important to me lately.

I read Alma 37:44. It says " is as easy to give heed to the word of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss...". Bliss!! That word struck me. I started to think about what the word bliss meant to me. I immediatly thought (and probably because I'm a girl) of a beautiful meadow overflowing with the most colorful, fragrant wildflowers I could imagine. I pictured me in a flowing, white, cotton sun dress gathering up as many flowers as I could pick. It was sunny and warm and I didn't have a care in the world!! Not ONE!! That to me is pure bliss. And then I thought of an eternity of wildflower meadows. Where do I sign up for that? I already have. The moment I let Christ into my life I did. All of us can have eternal bliss. We need to follow the word of Christ. We need to follow what he says and pattern our lives after these divine teachings. I know that it will bring true happiness.

And while life IS really, really hard sometimes it's nice to know that if I do what's right and follow the words of Christ I can enjoy an eternity of "bliss". And the hard times won't matter or be there anymore. It's so worth waiting for and working for!

My faith keeps me going. If you feel like you don't have any faith left, don't worry, you are not alone. I felt that way just a couple of months ago. To learn more about my faith you can check out

I am continually grateful for insights just like the one you received. It certainly helps me when things are less than what I hope for. I spoke at an enrichment meeting on Saturday about remembering who we are and when we do the kind of power we have. I am thankful for the less than gentle reminder I have received that this is true. You are amazing - I love you.
