Tami's My Name, Decorating's My Game

After we bought these couches I knew it was time to re-decorate.  I'm NO professional (I wish I had that talent).  So here are the results of my amateur efforts using thrift stores and garage sales.  I also scored big time with sales at Hobby Lobby and Rod Works.

Here's what it looked liked "before" I really got started.  I knew the first thing I wanted to change was that heart.  I'd had it for years and it was time to retire the poor thing.
I found this gem at a garage sale this weekend.  She said that she had used it in her bathroom to put bottles of perfume on.  I didn't want to use it for that.
I knew when I saw it that it was the perfect base for a floral arrangement.  Hobby Lobby had all of their flowers 50% off.  I love how it turned out.  I put this in my kitchen.  I'm so grateful for a mom who is a floral genius.  I just watched her growing up.  I'm not sure if I did it "right" but who cares, it looks good!
I'm really loving how this room is turning out.  Do you see that Eiffel Tower in the corner?  I moved that from our bedroom.  I love that the room has a much more sophisticated style now.
Here's my fireplace.  I always joke that if it wasn't for things I've made our walls would be bare.  Now if it wasn't for thrift stores and garage sales they would be empty.  Sorry about the quality of the photos.  I took them with my phone.  But you get the idea.

My husband thought I was crazy for buying that metal shelf and for buying the planter you see in this picture.  I saw the potential.  He was shocked!  I bought some greenery at Hobby Lobby and literally just stuck it in.  And don't you just love that vase that's sitting right next to the plant?  I found that at a garage sale too for a whopping $2.
Here's the secret to thrift store and garage sale shopping...be patient and go early!  Actually I have gone to the thrift store later in the evening and no one is there and the shelves are stocked nicely!
